The denominational world tries to pressure its members to focus on the birth of Christ but in doing so layers of guilt are imposed and competition gets complicated as one Christmas program tries to outdo the other.

You know I respect what Howard Dean has been able to do. It's good for our party. But I've got to tell you this: If money alone decided presidential nominations Phil Gramm would have been nominated in '96.

I got a nomination for director which means the world to me it's just the most exciting thing for me and my family. You do the good hard work and the rest of it is something you shouldn't get too caught up in but when it happens - boy! I respect it.

I honestly believe that there's an element in this country in our politics that does not want to see a businessman succeed at getting the nomination for the Republican party and does not want me to succeed at becoming President of the United States of America.

What we won when all of our people united must not be lost in suspicion and distrust and selfishness and politics. Accordingly I shall not seek and I will not accept the nomination of my party for another term as president.

That idea of peace and love toward humanity shouldn't be nationalistic or denominational. It should be a chief concern for all mankind.

I respect the fact that many denominations have different points of view with respect to gay marriage and they can hold that in the sanctity in the place of their religion and not bless them or solemnize them.

Mr. Chairman delegates. I accept your nomination for President of the United States of America. I do so with humility deeply moved by the trust you have placed in me. It is a great honor. It is an even greater responsibility.
