Women's Wear Daily can do more than any other publication to establish a designer.
I'm a jewelry girl. I became with friends with designer Irene Neuwirth a few years ago. At that point I just used to wear my wedding rings. Very low key. Now if I could I'd be draped from head to toe in her jewelry all the time. Everything she makes is beautiful.
I love that you can have the language between the two worlds of technology and fashion because I don't think that many designers get to do that.
I hate to say it but the truth is that the upscale line is where I get respect as a designer. The higher the price range the higher the respect level from the industry even though it's much easier to make a great $500 dress than a great $100 dress.
I became a set designer for opera. I'm a great opera buff I love classical music and I needed a time-out.
I don't want to criticize any other designers but I have to say that many of the people involved in this industry - directors and producers - are trying to make their games more like movies. They are longing to make movies rather than making videogames.
But having a perfume and license in general is a financial necessity. A designer must to reap back the money spent on prototypes and all that sort of thing.
I'd love to go to fashion week! I'm learning more about designers thanks to 'Pretty Little Liars'' costume designer Mandi Line.
I enjoyed studying costume learning about the corsetry and the historical context of fashion. I never had any real intention of being a costume designer.
I'm interested in learning more about myself and what I value in myself and letting that be the beautiful part of me rather than putting on the makeup or wearing the right designer.
