The reason that war is such a fascinating subject for writers is because it's a revealer. Put a bunch of people in an adrenaline-fuelled life-or-death situation and their fundamental behaviours are exposed the scrim is taken away and the motivations behind each personality come out to play.
There are so many things I want to do. Like I want to get an artist a musician a photographer and a bunch of dancers that I know and just travel across Africa and just film it and just see what happens. Do and learn as much as I possibly can. Luckily I have a lot more time.
I just travel the world with my backpack and my cameras and a bunch of Clif bars.
No greater thing is created suddenly any more than a bunch of grapes or a fig. If you tell me that you desire a fig I answer you that there must be time. Let it first blossom then bear fruit then ripen.
I love going to Africa and stuff. I love going anywhere really but I've been to Africa a bunch of times and it's just a beautiful place that needs help obviously but helping people that are really thankful is really easy to do. And the people out there always seem so thankful.
But now with technology I could sit down and do a bunch of character drawings and scan them into a computer and the computer using my exact style could bring it into life where it would have been edited by various human beings before.
It's nice being brought up with no money at all. It's just not how I measure success so that makes it a bunch easier.
The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world but if they don't play together the club won't be worth a dime.
I was always a sports nut but I've lost interest now in whether one bunch of mercenaries in north London is going to beat another bunch of mercenaries from west London.
I'm a geophysicist and all my earth science books when I was a student I had to give the wrong answer to get an A. We used to ridicule continental drift. It was something we laughed at. We learned of Marshall Kay's geosynclinal cycle which is a bunch of crap.
