And I don't want to live anywhere where I am famous. It makes me very very uncomfortable because it conveys an advantage over people and I don't like that.

I think in the end when you're famous people like to narrow you down to a few personality traits. I think I've just become this ambitious say-whatever's-on-her-mind intimidating person. And that's part of my personality but it's certainly not anywhere near the whole thing.

I would never have gone anywhere if it hadn't been for Mother's faith and support.

As a result of America's efforts to realize the ideals of equality and freedom blacks in America are now the freest and richest black people anywhere on the face of the earth including all of the nations that are ruled by blacks.

You see Africa makes a fool of our idea of justice. It makes a farce of our idea of equality. It mocks our pieties. It doubts our concern. It questions our commitment. Because there is no way we can look at what's happening in Africa and if we're honest conclude that it would ever be allowed to happen anywhere else.

Maybe it's a tired tale but without an education you're not going to go anywhere.

I don't think anybody anywhere can talk about the future of their people or of an organization without talking about education. Whoever controls the education of our children controls our future.

Without education you are not going anywhere in this world.

We're special because dreams that are impossible anywhere else come true here. That's not just my story. That's your story. That's our story.

There is no easy walk to freedom anywhere and many of us will have to pass through the valley of the shadow of death again and again before we reach the mountaintop of our desires.
