In my view the Christian religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children under a free government ought to be instructed.

You know what the fastest growing religion in America is? Statism. The growing reliance on government.

Religion flourishes in greater purity without than with the aid of Government.

And I have no doubt that every new example will succeed as every past one has done in showing that religion and Government will both exist in greater purity the less they are mixed together.

A people and their religion must be judged by social standards based on social ethics. No other standard would have any meaning if religion is held to be necessary good for the well-being of the people.

In fact I thought that Christianity was very a good and a very valuable thing for us. But after a while I began to feel that the story that I was told about this religion wasn't perhaps completely whole that something was left out.

It is the test of a good religion whether you can joke about it.

My country is the world and my religion is to do good.

Every religion is good that teaches man to be good and I know of none that instructs him to be bad.

We are persuaded that good Christians will always be good citizens and that where righteousness prevails among individuals the Nation will be great and happy. Thus while just government protects all in their religious rights true religion affords to government it's surest support.
