The movies that made me want to make movies were action movies and thrillers and Kurosawa films you know where you have an opportunity every day to shoot it in an unusual way. I was looking for something like that.

I'm into 'The Walking Dead ' 'Shaun of the Dead ' obviously and I've seen all the Romero movies. I am a classic zombie queen. And I love the White Walkers on 'Game of Thrones.' Weirdly it wasn't until pretty late in life that I found my entry point into horror films.

I'm glad movies aren't going to please everybody they can't. But what they have to be is recognisable. I don't equate myself with a master painter but I think you can recognise my films.

There are characters in movies who I call 'film characters.' They don't exist in real life. They exist to play out a scenario. They can be in fantastic films but they are not real characters what happens to them is not lifelike.

Well Toronto I consider to be the birthplace of my films. I've made three films and this is the third one to premiere here in the same theater on the same day at the same time - they are my audience. They're the people that I think about while I'm writing directing and editing. I specifically make movies for them.

There certainly is no secret in that there are plenty of people who don't like plenty of my movies. Each one of my films is personal each one of my films is emotionally autobiographical. And I like directors who do that. With each one of my films I'm exploring one of my own issues and I try to expose myself a little in the film.
