Back a hundred years ago especially around Woodrow Wilson what happened in this country is we took freedom and we chopped it into pieces.

Every friend of freedom must be as revolted as I am by the prospect of turning the United States into an armed camp by the vision of jails filled with casual drug users and of an army of enforcers empowered to invade the liberty of citizens on slight evidence.

Your true traveller finds boredom rather agreeable than painful. It is the symbol of his liberty - his excessive freedom. He accepts his boredom when it comes not merely philosophically but almost with pleasure.
