Americans will listen but they do not care to read. War and Peace must wait for the leisure of retirement which never really comes: meanwhile it helps to furnish the living room.

I'm on the board of directors for Peace Now which works tirelessly between the Palestinians and the Israelis to create peace in the Middle East and we've never been closer.

Without peace and without the overwhelming majority of people that believe in peace defending it working for it believing in it security can never really be a reality.

Peace should provide security. It should be durable. I'm ready to go far in making painful concessions. But there is one thing I will never make any concessions on and that's the security of the Israeli citizens and the very existence of the state of Israel. The Palestinians are losing time.

Peace is a never ending process... It cannot ignore our differences or overlook our common interests. It requires us to work and live together.

I never will have peace of mind. I'm not constructed that way. Some things in life can be horrible.

When I was in the Peace Corps I never made a phone call. I was in Central Africa I didn't make a phone call for two years. I was in Uganda for another four years and I didn't make a phone call. So for six years I didn't make a phone call but I wrote letters I wrote short stories I wrote books.

Imagine the peace symbol. The peace symbol has three pieces in it. One piece is emotion that's your body. Another piece has spirit in it that's your fuel. Another piece has intellect in it and that's your steering wheel. You can never overdo the fuel that goes into the body which is the emotions and the steering wheel to drive it.

Mankind will never win lasting peace so long as men use their full resources only in tasks of war. While we are yet at peace let us mobilize the potentialities particularly the moral and spiritual potentialities which we usually reserve for war.

I always thought of myself as a moderate liberal a fighter for peace and justice. I never thought of myself as being all that far out.
