I had done some flimflam movies but I didn't understand what being an actor meant anymore.

My dream role would probably be a psycho killer because the whole thing I love about movies is that you get to do things you could never do in real life and that would be my way of vicariously experiencing being a psycho killer. Also it's incredibly romantic.

I worked very hard on those movies but there was some creative connection that wasn't being made.

Somebody asked me about the current choice we're being given in the presidential election. I said Well it's like two of the scariest movies I can imagine.

My skin is hard when it comes to my music. But with my movies I'm still a virgin in a lot of ways. I'm not used to being shot down for no reason.

I get up in the morning do my e-mail I check my e-mails all day. I'll go online and I'll buy my books at Amazon.com but I don't want to buy all of them because I want to go to Duttons and I want to buy books from another human being.

When I got my very first phone call that I'd hit the 'New York Times' list I had a small rush of 'I've made it!' But the next morning it occurred to me I didn't know what it was so I called my agent and asked what being a 'New York Times' bestselling author really meant. He informed me that I was now a thousand pound gorilla.

I can't stop being in parades. I just love dancing on floats that move really slowly on the city streets in the early morning.

People have accused me of being in favor of globalization. This is equivalent to accusing me of being in favor of the sun rising in the morning.
