My motto was always to keep swinging. Whether I was in a slump or feeling badly or having trouble off the field the only thing to do was keep swinging.
We have a society in which one of the greatest things you can do is a platform to see victim status and one of the qualifications for that is that you have these exquisitely tender feelings about things and sensibilities which are easily offended.
Possibly because I grew up not feeling very confident about my own physical appearance I developed internal devices so that I could integrate into society.
Most of them are pretty down records pretty unhappy pretty confused. Which only reflects how people in general were feeling I mean really the sense that you get is society running down.
Similarly thought is a system. That system not only includes thought and feelings but it includes the state of the body it includes the whole of society - as thought is passing back and forth between people in a process by which thought evolved from ancient times.
I was walking around legally blind. Now I have 20-20 vision. I can't believe I spent so many years blurry but I think that coincides with how I was feeling. Now I notice if people are watching me but I also smile right back if someone waves which helps.
If by chance some day you're not feeling well and you should remember some silly thing I've said or done and it brings back a smile to your face or a chuckle to your heart then my purpose as your clown has been fulfilled.
My personal feeling about science fiction is that it's always in some way connected to the real world to our everyday world.
The violent reaction on the recent development of modern physics can only be understood when one realises that here the foundations of physics have started moving and that this motion has caused the feeling that the ground would be cut from science.
Science must have originated in the feeling that something was wrong.
