Many seventh graders I know in Illinois as well as around the Nation are studying the Constitution. I was pretty impressed with the quality of education our children are receiving because they had not expected me to ask them about it.

It was depressing very depressing. I worried about how I would make a living. I didn't want to stay on the farm. It didn't offer the challenge I wanted and yet without a college education I felt that I was really out of luck.

I did get a very fine education and not just in science. It took some pressure on the part of my elders to convince me that I really should take an interest in humanities.

And what is liberty whose very name makes the heart beat faster and shakes the world? Is it not the union of all liberties - liberty of conscience of education of association of the press of travel or labor or trade?

In his first year in office President Obama pulled us back from the brink of the greatest economic crisis since the Great Depression and worked to lay a new foundation for economic growth. The president identified three key strategies to build that lasting prosperity: innovation investment and education.

Apartheid education rarely mentioned in the press or openly confronted even among once-progressive educators is alive and well and rapidly increasing now in the United States.

The so-called modern education with all its defects however does others so much more good than it does the Negro because it has been worked out in conformity to the needs of those who have enslaved and oppressed weaker peoples.

As far as I was concerned the Depression was an ill wind that blew some good. If it hadn't occurred my parents would have given me my college education. As it was I had to scrabble for it.

There is a subconscious way of taking violence as a way of expression as a normality and it has a lot of effects in the youth in the way they absorb education and what they hope to get out of life.

Democracy cannot succeed unless those who express their choice are prepared to choose wisely. The real safeguard of democracy therefore is education.
