I really love rap music. I grew up in the '80s and '90s with Public Enemy N.W.A. LL Cool J - I'm a hip-hop encyclopedia. But I got kind of frustrated with the chauvinistic side of rap music the one that makes it hard to write songs about love and relationships.
You make your first album you make some money and you feel like you still have to show face like 'I still go to the projects.' I'm like why? Your job is to inspire people from your neighborhood to get out. You grew up there. What makes you think it's so cool?
Music is music ultimately. If it makes you feel good cool.
