There are many qualities that make a great leader. But having strong beliefs being able to stick with them through popular and unpopular times is the most important characteristic of a great leader.

The theoretical understanding of the world which is the aim of philosophy is not a matter of great practical importance to animals or to savages or even to most civilised men.
