'Rocket Science' is really where I fell in love with filmmaking I think 'Camp' was incredible but it was so bizarre and I was trying to find my footing in this world where you don't have an audience for immediate validation.

The media thinks that you have to make science sexy and concentrate on themes such as rivalry and the human issues.

The media need superheroes in science just as in every sphere of life but there is really a continuous range of abilities with no clear dividing line.

I think opera has gained a kind of glamorous appeal. It's a live performance that aligns all of the arts and when it is represented in the media in film in particular it is presented as something that is really a special event whether it's a great date or something that's just hugely romantic.

I joined the air force. I took to it immediately when I arrived there. I did three years eight months and ten days in all but it took me a year and a half to get disabused of my romantic notions about it.

To play June I had an immediate connect with her background and culture. We grew up with the same religion and shared a lot of the same values of family and spirituality. But I was really so inspired by what a modern woman she was.
