If the history of the Day of Atonement has anything to say to us now it is: never relieve individuals of moral responsibility. The more we have the more we grow.

We can all agree that no American should lose their life savings or their home because of illness or injury and that the rising cost of health care severely burdens individuals families and businesses.

Unfortunately we are still in an age where individuals may be discriminated against because of health conditions.

By offering individuals ownership and control of their health care coverage we return control to the patients and that is exactly where it should be.

The national debate on health care once centered on improving access to quality care yet the effect of Obamacare will be the exact opposite resulting in the shameful degradation of care for the neediest individuals.

The Supreme Court has never ruled that Congress can use the Commerce Clause to require individuals to engage in an activity they have chosen to avoid. Yet that is precisely what Obamacare does: It forces Americans without health insurance to purchase coverage. Such a requirement is unprecedented and unconstitutional.

You bet every member of Congress who votes for this bill ought to read it read it thoroughly and understand that what we're looking at here amounts to nothing more than a government takeover of our health care economy paid for with nearly a trillion dollars in new taxes on individuals and small businesses. And it must be opposed.
