I was a total athlete. I loved sports but when I realized I wasn't going to be a professional athlete I realized I wanted to be in movies.

Well it was actually - I brought the idea of doing a documentary to HBO back in 2000 when there were some press reports sort of were bandied about that there were going to TV movies based on some of the books that were out.

I enjoy sports. I get a real joy from playing sports but I don't look for those movies. Oliver Stone wanted to know if I would do Any Given Sunday and it just didn't appeal to me.

It takes more than driving to become an IndyCar driver. Gone are the days when drivers show up Friday morning and go home Sunday night. We're all integral to our partnerships commercially motorsports. We're as much champions in the boardroom as we are on the racetrack.

It says something about this new global economy that USA Today now reports every morning on the day's events in Asian markets.

On my morning run I listen to sports talk radio.

In the morning I reach for the sports page.

I have long been one of those tedious people who rails against the coronation of 'student-athletes.' I have heard the argument that big-time athletics bring in loads of money to universities. I don't believe the money goes anywhere other than back into the sports teams but that's another story.

I have a 16 year-old son so I'm now a soccer mom. I stand on the sidelines and I hear the things parents are saying so I want them to understand what it is their kids are feeling in any sports environment.

In response to our fast-food culture a 'slow food' movement appeared. Out of hurried parenthood a move toward slow parenting could be growing. With vital government supports for state-of-the-art public child care and paid parental leave maybe we would be ready to try slow love and marriage.
