In terms of doing work and in terms of learning and evolving as a person you just grow more when you get more people's perspectives... I really try and live the mission of the company and... keep everything else in my life extremely simple.

And I'd say one of the great lessons I've learned over the past couple of decades from a management perspective is that really when you come down to it it really is all about people and all about leadership.

Leadership can not be measured in a poll or even in the result of an election. It can only be truly seen with the benefit of time. From the perspective of 20 years not 20 days.

With the perspective afforded by the passage of time where does 9/11 rank as a turning point in our national history? For the victims and their families innocents going about their lives suddenly and brutally murdered no other day can ever matter as much.

To the extent that the judicial profession becomes the daily routine of deciding cases on the most secure precedents and the narrowest grounds available the judicial mind atrophies and its perspective shrinks.
