I believe that writers unless they consider themselves terribly exquisite are at heart people who live by night a little bit outside society moving between delinquency and conformity.

Since I have come to America I am often asked whether my next novel will be set in America. I don't think it will. I think I will be living in America for some time to come but while living in America I would like to write about Japanese society from the outside.

The response of anybody interested in liberty is that we all have a say and the ability to have an argument is exactly what liberty is even though it may never be resolved. In any authoritarian society the possessor of power dictates and if you try and step outside he will come after you.

Remember even though the outside world might be raining if you keep on smiling the sun will soon show its face and smile back at you.

Though I still have no semblance of a life outside of Nine Inch Nails at the moment I realize my goals have gone from getting a record deal or selling another record to being a better person more well-rounded having friends having a relationship with somebody.
