I'm not convinced about marriage. Divorce is so easy and that fact that gay people are not allowed to marry takes much of the meaning out of it. Committing yourself to one person is sacred.
Another argument vaguer and even less persuasive is that gay marriage somehow does harm to heterosexual marriage. I have yet to meet anyone who can explain to me what this means. In what way would allowing same-sex partners to marry diminish the marriages of heterosexual couples?
I opposed the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996. It should be repealed and I will vote for its repeal on the Senate floor. I will also oppose any proposal to amend the U.S. Constitution to ban gays and lesbians from marrying.
I wanted to marry a girl just like my mom.

Many a man in love with a dimple makes the mistake of marrying the whole girl.
It isn't tying himself to one woman that a man dreads when he thinks of marrying it's separating himself from all the others.
The first time you marry for love the second for money and the third for companionship.
Men have a much better time of it than women. For one thing they marry later for another thing they die earlier.
Marrying an old bachelor is like buying second-hand furniture.
