Trust your gut instinct over spreadsheets. There are too many variables in the real world that you simply can't put into a spreadsheet. Spreadsheets spit out results from your inexact assumptions and give you a false sense of security. In most cases your heart and gut are still your best guide.

It's hard now to imagine that kind of travel and the daily tasks they simply took for granted. If a wagon axle broke you had to stop and carve a new one. To cross a river you sometimes had to build a raft.

When I think of myself at 15 even 17 I could simply not have done this work on an international level and travel all the time take care of myself and not feel lost. I feel very happy that this is happening now and not 10 years ago as I feel stronger as a person.

So I see technology as a Trojan Horse: It looks like a wonderful thing but they are going to regret introducing it into the schools because it simply can't be controlled.

Technology causes problems as well as solves problems. Nobody has figured out a way to ensure that as of tomorrow technology won't create problems. Technology simply means increased power which is why we have the global problems we face today.

Well first of all we now have everybody with the exception of India Pakistan and Israel and I don't think these three countries are going to join by simply providing them an incentive in terms of technology.

The teacher of history's work should be ideally not simply a description of past cultures but a performance of the culture in which we live and are increasingly taking our being.
