Now in New Jersey we have more government workers per square mile than any state in America. But since I've been governor we now have fewer people on the state payroll at any time since Christie Whitman left office in January 2001. That's the right direction Mr. President not the wrong direction.
But ours was intended to be a citizen government. It is what of by and for the people means. And when our most important issue in California is the creation of jobs I think it's quite helpful to have someone in the U.S. Senate or in the governor's seat who actually knows where jobs come from.
As a governor I am naturally inclined to focus on the domestic side of protecting the United States.
Knowledge will forever govern ignorance and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives.
Well clearly for me in the immediate future it is grappling like so many other governors are grappling with the economic woes of these states. We were all hoping to see some federal relief.
There are times when even the most potent governor must wink at transgression in order to preserve the laws inviolate for the future.
I also meet with city officials representatives from governors' offices really anyone in that sort of position who has shown an interest in youth fitness to let them know why this sort of program is so important. I give the same message when I speak at conferences.

You know my father as governor as president but I knew him as dad. I was so proud to have the Reagan name and to be Ronald Reagan's son.
