Music was always the distraction so it was the obvious choice to pursue. My dad always said to find a job I love to do that way it wouldn't feel like a job. So I did that.

But if the choice is a cool president and 8 or 10 percent unemployment in a declining economy and a country that seems to be going in the wrong direction and structural unemployment for young people at 50 percent I'd rather have a dorky president who fixed those problems.

I once owned a really really ugly pair of white leather boots. They were so bad. It was back in the '80s! It was just a really tacky fashion choice when I was in middle school and I thought it was cool. I'm really embarrassed.

If the choice is between doing something supercool and having no one hear it and doing something equally cool and tricking people into putting it on the radio I don't think the second option is some big sellout.

Some argue that now isn't the time to push the green agenda - that all efforts should be on preventing a serious recession. That is a false choice. One reason we resist making deliberate choices is that choice equals change and most of us feeling the world is unpredictable enough try to minimise the trauma of change in our personal lives.

There are three constants in life... change choice and principles.

In life you need a house and a car. After that you have a choice.

You cannot expect the guy who drove the car into the ditch to navigate it out of the ditch. You have to put a new driver in the seat. I'm not saying the new driver is going to be any better but we need a new driver. Kerry is the only choice.
