Your diet is a bank account. Good food choices are good investments.
As all human beings are in my view creatures of God's design we must respect all other human beings. That does not mean I have to agree with their choices or agree with their opinions but indeed I respect them as human beings.
I am politically pro-choice but personally pro-life. I have my faith but refuse to force it on the world at large - especially this world so brutal and unjust. I cannot make these wrenching personal life and death decisions for others - nor do I believe they should be made by a church run by childless men.
I was never afraid of failure after that because I think coming that close to death you get kissed. With the years the actual experience of course fades but the flavor of it doesn't. I just had a real sense of what choice do I have but to live fully?
We do not choose the day of our birth nor may we choose the day of our death yet choice is the sovereign faculty of the mind.
Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything - all external expectations all pride all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the face of death leaving only what is truly important.
In my own relationships I know that I should break up with someone who doesn't encourage me to be strong and make my own choices and do what's best in my life so if you're dating someone who doesn't want you to be the best person you can be you shouldn't be dating them.
If you're a sports fan you realize that when you meet somebody like a girlfriend they kind of have to root for your team. They don't have a choice.
That's what my Dad always told me on the ballot they should always have a third choice like none of the above then if enough people picked that they'd have to get new candidates.
I think in my case I had no choice but to have a good sense of humor. I grew up with my dad Danny Thomas and George Burns and Bob Hope and Milton Berle and Sid Caesar and all those guys were at our house all the time and telling jokes and making each other laugh.
