After 25-plus years as a lawyer prosecutor and defense attorney I have developed a deep appreciation for both the wisdom of the law and the role that jurists play in framing the rights and responsibilities that define our society.

Most of Roosevelt's innovations have been the law of the land for 70 years now and yet we are still a free society free enough that is to allow tens of thousands of protesters to gather on the National Mall and to broadcast their slogans and speeches to the world via C-SPAN.

The point of mythology or myth is to point to the horizon and to point back to ourselves: This is who we are this is where we came from and this is where we're going. And a lot of Western society over the last hundred years - the last 50 years really - has lost that. We have become rather aimless and wandering.

I will spend the next four years rebuilding the foundation of a opportunity society led by free people and free enterprises.

I'm 23 years old. I might just be my mother's child but in all reality I'm everybody's child. Nobody raised me I was raised in this society.

Ever since I was four years old I loved making people smile making them think making them feel good feel some kind of emotion.

I've covered a lot of ground geographically and emotionally and for years I lost my connection with my family. But the best comfort you can have whether you are on the phone or sitting there in the living room with them is with your parents and to me family has always meant protection. When you smile you get a smile back unconditionally.

I don't really remember a time younger than 5 years old that I didn't have skates on because all I can remember is every day tying up my skates and a big smile on my face excited to go on the ice.

So my style has hopefully changed over the years and it is more relaxed and I do tend to smile and have more than one expression these days hopefully - which I didn't at the beginning.

I was walking around legally blind. Now I have 20-20 vision. I can't believe I spent so many years blurry but I think that coincides with how I was feeling. Now I notice if people are watching me but I also smile right back if someone waves which helps.
