There's been a lot of really cool stuff that's happened to me throughout my career and I remember everything but I don't think I savored every moment of it like I should have or like I do now.

I remember being on film sets when I was younger and only men got to do the cool action movies. So I thought 'Maybe I'll get to produce one day and get to do cool stuff too ' which is what happened when we did 'Charlie's Angels.' Starting my production company was a big turning point for me.

What's happened with society is that we have created these devices computers which already can register and process huge amounts of information which is a significant fraction of the amount of information that human beings themselves as a species can process.

Something else has happened with computers.

One of the most important things that I did to turn my life around was to realize and to accept that from this minute that's all we have. Everything that happened behind us we cannot change so you might as well look to the future.

News reports don't change the world. Only facts change it and those have already happened when we get the news.

Anyone who's lost someone to cancer will say this that you have to struggle to try to remember the person before the diagnosis happened because they really do change - as anyone would change.

As human beings we are vulnerable to confusing the unprecedented with the improbable. In our everyday experience if something has never happened before we are generally safe in assuming it is not going to happen in the future but the exceptions can kill you and climate change is one of those exceptions.

I remember things that happened sixty years ago but if you ask me where I left my car keys five minutes ago that's sometimes a problem.

'Blind Curve ' the book I'm working on now sprang from a crazy incident that happened to me last year while on my book tour. I was pulled out of my car for a minor traffic violation - an incident that escalated into my being thrown into cuffs and told I was going to jail. Except in my story the hero doesn't get off as easily as I did.
