I think people need to have fun with whatever they're doing - makeup their clothes music live shows - anything you don't need to take too seriously don't take too seriously.
My music must reflect whatever's going on in my mind and my life needs to evolve for me to discover who it is I'm becoming.
I need music. It's like my heartbeat so to speak. It keeps me going no matter what's going on - bad games press whatever!
If you like my music great and if you don't whatever. I'm going to keep making it either way.
If I have to produce movies direct movies whatever to change the way Hollywood treats older women I'll do it. If I have to bend the rules I will. If I have to break them I will.
People are always wondering if I am an artist or political activist or politician. Maybe I'll just clearly tell you: Whatever I do is not art. Let's say it is just objects or materials movies or writing but not art OK?
I just feel like with independent movies... they're really free to do whatever they want. They're not afraid to make a statement about anything and there's not a huge studio behind them making sure that everything is wholesome and politically correct and all that.
Making movies was more a reaction to not being chosen for sports. Other kids were out there playing at whatever I was off making something blow up and filming it or making a mould of my sister's head using alginating plaster.
Awards were made in Hollywood in whatever the time it was created. They're to promote each other's movies. You give me an award I give you an award and people will believe that we are great movies and they'll go to see them. It's still the same.
I don't blame folks for not wanting to put me in their movies or whatever. I understand if their audiences had an association with me.
