This much we know: Journalism is not a precise science. It's on its best day is a crude art. We make mistakes I make mistakes. With more than 50 years as a journalist I have at least had the opportunity to blow more stories make more mistakes than maybe anybody in television.

It's really sad for me that in the United States the Latino community is losing its culture and language especially among kids born here - a lot of them can't even speak our language.

Film-makers are always going to be interested in making movies that plug into society around them. That's what a vibrant artistically alert community should be doing. After all it would be sad if we only made films about alien robots.

The sad truth is that opportunity doesn't knock twice.

Acting gave me the opportunity to do outrageous things. It allowed me to be sad happy angry and lustful even if it was just vicariously.

Back then a half-a-century ago the situation was totally different. Economically we were practically on our knees and politically we were still excluded from the community of nations. Today in this respect we have a totally different and much more stable basis.

I work on a TV show I love I have the opportunity to do movies with actors I respect and I'm in love with the man I want to spend the rest of my life with who pushes me and excites me.

I have as much input to the blues I just never got the chance the opportunity or maybe the respect.
