To feel much for others and little for ourselves to restrain our selfishness and exercise our benevolent affections constitute the perfection of human nature.

We talk of our mastery of nature which sounds very grand but the fact is we respectfully adapt ourselves first to her ways.

For whatever reason not all people are born with the particular gift of being able to express ourselves through music. And believe me it is a gift.

Music is the effort we make to explain to ourselves how our brains work. We listen to Bach transfixed because this is listening to a human mind.

Music is a lady that I still love because she gives me the air that I breathe. We need all sorts of nourishment. And music satisfies and nourishes the hunger within ourselves for connection and harmony.

There is nothing deep down inside us except what we have put there ourselves.

Always continue the climb. It is possible for you to do whatever you choose if you first get to know who you are and are willing to work with a power that is greater than ourselves to do it.

Burning desire to be or do something gives us staying power - a reason to get up every morning or to pick ourselves up and start in again after a disappointment.

And we've got to ask ourselves some very serious questions as to whether or not certain religious leaders in terms of raising money - I hate to bring this up - are pushing hot buttons.

Just put down 9/11... I think on most things I'm liberal except on defending ourselves and keeping half the money. Those things I'm kind of conservative on.
