About half my work in education is U.S. political reform around school districts and charter schools and creating more room for entrepreneurial organizations to develop. And about half on technology which I look at as a global platform.

To compete in a global economy our students must continue their education beyond high school. To make this expectation a reality we must give students the tools they need to succeed including the opportunity to take a college entrance exam.

Google is a global Rorschach test. We see in it what we want to see. Google has built an infrastructure that makes a lot of dreams closer to reality.

Through all aspects of society be it art design the financial markets government technology or communications we are witnessing unprecedented global transformation - the result of which is impossible to predict.

It's funny now how much we look at - whatever you want to call it: art design culture stuff film - online and how in the online world you're instantly global.

To be clear climate change is a true 800 pound gorilla in the room. The effects of global warming threaten global environmental upheaval over the coming century. But for South Florida and the Everglades it could be our death knell if urgent action is not taken.

We worry about the seemingly ever-increasing number of natural catastrophes. Yet this is mainly a consequence of CNN - we see many more but the number is roughly constant and we manage to deal much better with them over time. Globally the death rate from catastrophes has dropped about fifty-fold over the past century.

The right response to the non-problem of global warming is to have the courage to do nothing.

We know the threats - from global terrorist networks to the spread of deadly weapons. Yet we also know that embedded in this time of danger is the promise of a new day if we have the courage and commitment to work together.

I think Al Gore has done a great service in making global warming cool. He's basically taken it from a nerdy almost ignored issue to making it what it is - namely a problem.
