Every friend of freedom must be as revolted as I am by the prospect of turning the United States into an armed camp by the vision of jails filled with casual drug users and of an army of enforcers empowered to invade the liberty of citizens on slight evidence.
Perfect freedom is as necessary to the health and vigor of commerce as it is to the health and vigor of citizenship.
The class of citizens who provide at once their own food and their own raiment may be viewed as the most truly independent and happy.
If US per capita income continues to grow at a rate of 1.5 percent a year the country will have plenty of money to finance comfortable retirements and high-quality healthcare for all citizens including those at the bottom of the wage ladder.

We have the incredible privilege of serving in the highest offices in the state. We must prove ourselves worthy of our fellow citizens' faith. We must be trusted to always place the public's good above our own and to always choose fairness over favoritism.
And so today if the state can no longer appeal to the old moral principles that belong to the Christian tradition it will be forced to create a new official faith and new moral principles which will be binding on its citizens.
There is nothing wrong with America that faith love of freedom intelligence and energy of her citizens cannot cure.
Failure to properly control our borders costs citizens in many ways: schools become overcrowded medical resources are stretched too thin other government services are overtaxed and taxes increase further.
Washington D.C. is what is broken not the immigration policies. We have good laws. We have people suffer every day because of government's failure to enforce the law and be respectful to the process we have. We have a pathway to citizenship already in place.
