Poetry is like making a joke. If you get one word wrong at the end of a joke you've lost the whole thing.

There is probably nothing wrong with art for art's sake if we take the phrase seriously and not take it to mean the kind of poetry written in England forty years ago.

If a poem is not memorable there's probably something wrong. One of the problems of free verse is that much of the free verse poetry is not memorable.

But I liked Yeats! That wild Irishman. I really loved his love of language his flow. His chaotic ideas seemed to me just the right thing for a poet. Passion! He was always on the right side. He may be wrongheaded but his heart was always on the right side. He wrote beautiful poetry.

The Palestinians want a state but they have to give peace in return. What they're trying to do in the United Nations is to get a state without giving Israel peace or giving Israel peace and security. And I think that's that's wrong. That should not succeed. That should that should fail.

I think Muslims have become the new Negroes in America. They are being mistreated at airports by the Immigration - everywhere. Islam is a religion of peace. They are wrong.

Nothing is wrong with peace and love. It is all the more regrettable that so many of Christ's followers seem to disagree.
