The diversity in the faculties of men from which the rights of property originate is not less an insuperable obstacle to an uniformity of interests. The protection of these faculties is the first object of government.

Government has no other end but the preservation of property.

I have no doubt but that the misery of the lower classes will be found to abate whenever the Government assumes a freer aspect and the laws favor a subdivision of Property.

As long as our government is administered for the good of the people and is regulated by their will as long as it secures to us the rights of persons and of property liberty of conscience and of the press it will be worth defending.

It may be laid down as a primary position and the basis of our system that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a Free Government owes not only a proportion of his property but even of his personal services to the defense of it.

Property may be destroyed and money may lose its purchasing power but character health knowledge and good judgement will always be in demand under all conditions.

The Creator has not thought proper to mark those in the forehead who are of stuff to make good generals. We are first therefore to seek them blindfold and then let them learn the trade at the expense of great losses.

Know then thyself presume not God to scan The proper study of mankind is man.

God hates violence. He has ordained that all men fairly possess their property not seize it.

God to me it seems is a verb not a noun proper or improper.
