America's fighting men and women sacrifice much to ensure that our great nation stays free. We owe a debt of gratitude to the soldiers that have paid the ultimate price for this cause as well as for those who are blessed enough to return from the battlefield unscathed.
Too often the great decisions are originated and given form in bodies made up wholly of men or so completely dominated by them that whatever of special value women have to offer is shunted aside without expression.
I think women as well as men are concerned about jobs and the economy and spending and and other issues. They're concerned that when their kids graduate from college they have an economy and they have a future in this country and they they have the same opportunity that we've had and our grandparents have had.
I first became interested in women and religion when I was one of the few women doing graduate work in Religious Studies at Yale University in the late 1960's.
An interim government was set up in Afghanistan. It included two women one of whom was Minister of Women's Affairs. Man who'd she have to show here ankles to to get that job?
Women ought to have representatives instead of being arbitrarily governed without any direct share allowed them in the deliberations of government.
As Americans we don't see the role of government as guaranteeing outcomes but allowing free men and women to flourish based on their own vision their hard work and their personal responsibility.
If everybody in this town connected with politics had to leave town because of chasing women and drinking you would have no government.
The marvel of all history is the patience with which men and women submit to burdens unnecessarily laid upon them by their governments.
It's not vanity to feel you have a right to be beautiful. Women are taught to feel we're not good enough that we must live up to someone else's standards. But my aim is to cherish myself as I am.
