Women like to sit down with trouble - as if it were knitting.

I think everybody has something that takes them away or makes them happier. To some people it's baseball or sports or knitting or the movies.

The next thing I am doing is moving back home to Minnesota and getting involved in politics. I'm looking at a run for Senate in 2008 but in the meantime I am focused on knitting together the progressive network in the upper Midwest.

I have written some songs but I would really call what I've done poetry at the end of the day because I'll sit with my guitar for hours and hours on end for like a week and then I won't touch it for a month. I also just have no confidence. And you know what? I don't have time because I'd rather be doing other things like knitting.

No longer shall I paint interiors with men reading and women knitting. I will paint living people who breathe and feel and suffer and love.
