It's hard to do it because you gotta look people in the eye and tell 'em they're irresponsible and lazy. And who's gonna wanna do that? Because that's what poverty is ladies and gentlemen. In this country you can succeed if you get educated and work hard. Period. Period.

Gentlemen I fervently trust that before long the principle of arbitration may win such confidence as to justify its extension to a wider field of international differences.

Ladies and gentlemen it is with great sadness that I announce that I will resign as Australia's Minister for Foreign Affairs. I am sad because I love this job. I'm totally dedicated to the work that we are doing in Australia's name around the world and I believe that we have achieved many good results for Australia and I'm proud of them.

The truth does not require a majority to prevail ladies and gentlemen. The truth is its own power. The truth will out. Never forget that.

Idealism is the noble toga that political gentlemen drape over their will to power.

Gentlemen have talked a great deal of patriotism. A venerable word when duly practiced.

Here again as I conceive gentlemen forget that this government is a republican one resting exclusively in the intelligence and virtue of the People.

Come gentlemen I hope we shall drink down all unkindness.

Ladies and gentlemen god bless America - land of the free home of the brave.
