In the long term we can hope that religion will change the nature of man and reduce conflict. But history is not encouraging in this respect. The bloodiest wars in history have been religious wars.

Organized religion is a sham and a crutch for weak-minded people who need strength in numbers. It tells people to go out and stick their noses in other people's business.

Baseball just a came as simple as a ball and bat. Yet as complex as the American spirit it symbolizes. A sport a business and sometimes almost even a religion.

The main business of religions is to purify control and restrain that excessive and exclusive taste for well-being which men acquire in times of equality.

Freedom. Freedom of religion. Freedom to speak their mind. Freedom to build a life. And yes freedom to build a business. With their own hands. This is the essence of the American experience.

It is easy enough to be friendly to one's friends. But to befriend the one who regards himself as your enemy is the quintessence of true religion. The other is mere business.

It is ironic that the one thing that all religions recognize as separating us from our creator our very self-consciousness is also the one thing that divides us from our fellow creatures. It was a bitter birthday present from evolution.

No matter the nationality no matter the religion no matter the ethnic background America brings out the best in people.

Let us put theology out of religion. Theology has always sent the worst to heaven the best to hell.

Toleration is the best religion.
