In wilderness I sense the miracle of life and behind it our scientific accomplishments fade to trivia.

Music's been around a long time and there's going to be music long after Ray Charles is dead. I just want to make my mark leave something musically good behind. If it's a big record that's the frosting on the cake but music's the main meal.

But recently I began to feel that maybe I wouldn't be able to do what I want to do and need to do with American musicians who are imprisoned behind these bars music's got these bars and measures you know.

And you have a record company behind it this is a key too you need people to fight for your records at least a little bit. So if you have a great song it's catchy and you've got a little bit of help I think that's all you need. But there hasn't been that in music.

I think the drummer should sit back there and play some drums and never mind about the tunes. Just get up there and wail behind whoever is sitting up there playing the solo. And this is what is lacking definitely lacking in music today.

Who can't relate to the idea of leaving one chapter behind and moving on to the next?

Moving on is a simple thing what it leaves behind is hard.

I'm intrigued by films that have a singular vision behind them. A lot of studio movies have ten writers by the time they're done. You have a movie testing 200 times making adjustments according to various people's opinions. It's difficult to have an undistilled vision.

I use to watch like maybe three or four movies five days out of the week. I was a movie buff but I really didn't know what it was like behind the scenes or the whole political process of it.

I just feel like with independent movies... they're really free to do whatever they want. They're not afraid to make a statement about anything and there's not a huge studio behind them making sure that everything is wholesome and politically correct and all that.
