The type of leukemia that I am dealing with is treatable. So if I do what my doctors tell me to do - get my blood checked regularly take my meds and consult with my doctor and follow any additional instructions he might make - I will be able to maintain my good health and live my life with a minimum of disruptions to my lifestyle.

We must solve the problem in health care by curbing out-of-control costs that erode paychecks for working families and push quality coverage out of reach for millions of Americans.

We all learn in school that the judicial legislative and executive branches of government must check and balance each other. But other non state institutions must participate in this important system of checks and balances as well. These checking institutions include the academy the media religious institutions and NGOs.

Ours is a government of checks and balances. The Mafia and crooked businessmen make out checks and the politicians and other compromised officials improve their bank balances.

The Canadian government continues to say they will not help us if we go to war with Iraq. However the prime minister of Canada said he'd like to help but he's pretty sure that last time he checked Canada had no army.

Democracy is when the people keep a government in check.

The Government of the absolute majority instead of the Government of the people is but the Government of the strongest interests and when not efficiently checked it is the most tyrannical and oppressive that can be devised.

This used to be a government of checks and balances. Now it's all checks and no balances.

It's opportunity. It's opportunity not a check from government - it's opportunity that has always driven America and defined us as Americans.

Now let me be clear. The path I lay out is not one paved with ever increasing government checks and cradle to grave assurance that government will always be the solution. If this election is a bidding war for who can promise the most goodies and the most benefits I'm not your president. You have that president today.
