Then I read Little Women and of course like a lot of really young girls I was very taken with Jo - Jo being the writer and the misfit.

I will say that the idea of a woman being deceptive came from that original discussion with critics and reporters about if woman could do that kind of thing. Evelyn herself grew out of the discussions about how capable women are of deceit and lying and manipulation.

Women being pitted each other another in Hollywood is an old tactic but it's not real at all.

Lots of women love to accuse men of being immature when the fellow in question displays a reluctance to 'commit.'

Basically women have to prove they are strong at all times. And then when they go on the attack they have to not appear mean because those women often get the label of being catty.

Many differences are rooted in biology and reinforced through culture so it's important to acknowledge that. Because if you say men and women are the same and if male behaviour is the norm and women are always expected to act like men we will never be as good at being men as men are.

When I meet large women who walk with confidence and are articulate and really have an understanding of how they walk in this world I love them so deeply for being able to overcome such unbelievable odds.

I noticed in the past a lot of guys who like strong women they really freak out if you're not strong 24/7. Or they complain about you being strong then the moment you're not strong they're like 'Oh no no no.'

I'm excited about there being more of a sisterhood these days. Back in the '90s there was a lot of hate - the women I looked up to as artists were dissing me! It's not so patriarchal these days - there's more love and a lot less hate!

I want to be a cheerleader for women who have never even considered running for office or being involved in a campaign but who in the quietness of their hearts might think 'Why not me?'
