I think the importance of doing activist work is precisely because it allows you to give back and to consider yourself not as a single individual who may have achieved whatever but to be a part of an ongoing historical movement.

If you do not feel yourself growing in your work and your life broadening and deepening if your task is not a perpetual tonic to you you have not found your place.

Surround yourself with people who take their work seriously but not themselves those who work hard and play hard.

No man ever got very high by pulling other people down. The intelligent merchant does not knock his competitors. The sensible worker does not work those who work with him. Don't knock your friends. Don't knock your enemies. Don't knock yourself.

Work harder on yourself than you do on your job.

Before you start some work always ask yourself three questions - Why am I doing it What the results might be and Will I be successful. Only when you think deeply and find satisfactory answers to these questions go ahead.

Men are going to go out on the road and they're going to find other women. So if you really want to save yourself a whole lot of heartache do not fall in love with somebody in a band. Just don't.

When I get up and work out I'm working out just as much for my girls as I am for me because I want them to see a mother who loves them dearly who invests in them but who also invests in herself. It's just as much about letting them know as young women that it is okay to put yourself a little higher on your priority list.

If you don't love yourself you can't love anybody else. And I think as women we really forget that.

After all what is your host's purpose in having a party? Surely not for you to enjoy yourself if that were their sole purpose they'd have simply sent champagne and women over to your place by taxi.
