The impersonal hand of government can never replace the helping hand of a neighbor.

Liberty has never come from Government. Liberty has always come from the subjects of it. The history of liberty is a history of limitations of governmental power not the increase of it.

Life in general has never been even close to fair so the pretense that the government can make it fair is a valuable and inexhaustible asset to politicians who want to expand government.

The universe never did make sense I suspect it was built on government contract.

When I am abroad I always make it a rule never to criticize or attack the government of my own country. I make up for lost time when I come home.

Let us never forget that government is ourselves and not an alien power over us. The ultimate rulers of our democracy are not a President and senators and congressmen and government officials but the voters of this country.

No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs once launched never disappear. Actually a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth!

This country with its institutions belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it or exercise their revolutionary right to overthrow it.

Governments never learn. Only people learn.

Man will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest.
