Here in Silicon Valley I have taken part in hundreds of conversations trying to convince people to dive in and become entrepreneurs. All too often innovators with good safe jobs are unwilling to put their family's access to health care at risk by walking away from company-backed medical insurance.

We've taken on the major health problems of the poorest - tuberculosis maternal mortality AIDS malaria - in four countries. We've scored some victories in the sense that we've cured or treated thousands and changed the discourse about what is possible.

I believe that whether you love your job or hate your job get laid off or are just in-between jobs you deserve health care that can never be taken away.

Obama seemed poised to realign American politics after his stunning 2008 victory. But the economy remains worse than even the administration's worst-case scenarios and the long legislative battles over health care reform financial services reform and the national debt and deficit have taken their toll. Obama no longer looks invincible.

I have not been that wise. Health I have taken for granted. Love I have demanded perhaps too much and too often. As for money I have only realized its true worth when I didn't have it.

I support health care for people. I want people well taken care of. But I also want health care that we can afford as a country. I have people and friends closing down their businesses because of Obamacare.

By asking the question 'Am I happy? ' and via the answer setting out what I mean by happiness there is a political route that can be taken by asking another question - 'Can politics deliver happiness and should it try?'

Households cities countries and nations have enjoyed great happiness when a single individual has taken heed of the Good and Beautiful. Such people not only liberate themselves they fill those they meet with a free mind.

If you have not taken the time to define what happiness means to you what have your spent your whole life pursuing?

Our principles are the springs of our actions. Our actions the springs of our happiness or misery. Too much care therefore cannot be taken in forming our principles.
